Kamptal Terrassen' Kamptal DAC Riesling

Riesling Kamptaler Terrassen Brundlmayer

Variety: Riesling • Region: Kamptal • Vineyard: Steinmassl, Steinberg, and young vines from Heiligenstein • Soil Type: Primary rock, loess, clay • Fermentation & Élevage: Stainless steel • Farming: Certified Organic

This Riesling is a blend of wines sourced from different younger terraced (high quality) vineyards. The elevated terraces consist of stonier soils that bring fruit-driven wines with mineral nuances and good aging potential. The vines from lower sited terraces grow partly on layered fertile loess and bring earlier maturing wines that are very expressive in their youth.

"Delightful grapefruit, lime blossom and white peach aromas in this juicy white. It™s medium-bodied, fresh and exuberant, leading to a dry, zesty and pristine finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink now or hold. Screw cap."

"The 2024 Riesling Kamptal Terrassen comes from all the single sites, including the younger vines of Heiligenstein and Steinberg, as well as Steinmassl, on gneiss and Permian sandstone. Superb aromatics of green Seville orange and crushed citrus leaf beguile on the nose. The palate is equally aromatic, immensely charming and beautifully fresh, with notable concentration, real drive and a totally lip-smacking finish."

"Riesling thrives on the stony, terraced vineyards of Austria™s Kamptal region. This wine is driven by minerals with notes of apples, peaches, and a hint of petrol. The palate is grippy and intense, with enough concentrated fruit to stand up to searing acidity."

"Vibrant yellow apple and mint aromas pour from the glass of this crisp and expressive dry Austrian riesling. Very fresh and energetic on the medium-bodied palate, with a straight lemony finish and a positive stony character. A cuvee of wines from young vines in the Heiligenstein, plus wines from the Steinmassel and Steinberg sites. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold. Screw cap."

"Bründlmayer's 2023 Riesling Terrassen is super clear and remarkably intense on the bright, elegant, beautifully aromatic and saline nose that is reminiscent of white peach and crushed rock. It is lush, round and savory on the palate, with spicy aromatics, concentrated white peach fruit, sur lie texture and ripe yet tension-giving acidity and mineral tension. This is a remarkably hedonistic Riesling in a lighter, XS style. 13% stated alcohol. Screw cap. Tasted in March 2024."

"The 2023 Riesling Kamptal Terrassen comes from superb sites on sandstone and paragneiss like Steinberg, Steinmassl, Seeberg and even young vines from Heiligenstein. Tangerine immediately takes hold of all the senses with its ripe, fragrant exuberance. Zestiness pervades the palate with its joyful, tingling freshness, majoring in lemon and slight lemon pith. Light-footed, stony, taut, citric and vivid, this wine totally overdelivers. (Bone-dry)"

"Sweet floral and peach notes spill out on a broad palate in this bone-dry version, powered by juicy lime peel acidity. A firming rush of mineral details cleans up the palate. Ends with whiffs of petrol and smoky flint. Drink now through 2031. 300 cases imported."

"The 2022 Riesling Kamptal Terrassen is harvested mostly from paragneiss in the Steinberg vineyard behind Steinmassl and in Steinmassl itself, as well as the poorer parcels of Käferberg and the young vines of the Heiligenstein. The nose is alive with fruit, almost red-berry-like in its tart juiciness. The palate comes in with immense and sweeping freshness, brio and a lovely citric, zesty astringency that makes this even racier. This is svelte, precise, fresh and wonderfully driven"and bone-dry of course. Zesty mouthfeel and flavor are everything here"no wonder, with this kind of provenance. (Bone-dry)"
