"A new cuvée to me with an excellent name, the 2024 Pinot Gris Skypunch comes from one of the estate's neighbouring vineyards (planted in 2004)"but as I've come to expect from Black Estate, they've made it their own. It was made with minimal intervention: the grapes were hand-harvested, whole-bunch pressed and fermented with natural yeast in 500-liter barrels, and the wine is unfined and unfiltered. Fully dry, the 2024 has a round, curved texture that may come from its clay origins. Still, it remains focused and precise with higher-than-average acidity for Pinot Gris. Peach and toffee apple mingle with roses on the crisp finish. This is a wine you'll keep coming back to."
