"For him, this is the most polarizing wine in the range, coming from 1896 vines in Alexander Valley planted on decomposed slate soils with Negrette as the secondary variety. The 2024 Nervo Ranch Heritage Wine reveals dark cherries, wild herbs, pepper, and gravelly mineral tones. The tannin structure is almost Barolo-like in its grip and chiseled feel, which may divide readers, but I absolutely love it. One of the highlights in the lineup for me, drink it over the coming two decades."

"A seductive and perfumed wine with beautiful floral and wild herb aromas. Silky, elegant, ephemeral on the palate. Incredibly lifted with wonderful acid and tannin integration. Red fruit and florals come through in the very long finish. A gorgeous wine. An old vine field blend planted in 1896. Full-bodied. Drink or hold."

"The 2024 Nervo Ranch Heritage Wine is an incredibly distinctive wine, largely because of the complexity of a field blend that includes 17 varieties. The lifted, articulate bouquet is immediately alluring. Brilliant red-toned fruit, chalk, mint and white pepper are beautifully sculpted. A spine of persistent yet refined tannins shapes the mid-palate and finish. Gorgeous."

"The 2024 Nervo Ranch Heritage comes from vines planted in 1896, mostly to Zinfandel plus 18 other interplanted varieties, such as Negrette, Grenache, Trousseau Noir and even white grapes. It has inviting scents of black cherry, blueberry, fig, aniseed, dried herbs and earth. Full-bodied, it floods the mouth with waves of concentrated, spicy berry fruit. It's structured by soft, dusty tannins and juicy acidity and has a long, elegant finish."

"The 2021 Nervo Ranch Heritage Red Wine is ripe ruby hued and has a savory cologne of toasted cedar, menthol, ripe cherry, and pine. Full-bodied, with a meaty, rich texture, ripe, broad tannins, and notes of kirsch, sage, and mocha, it should drink well 2025-2035."

"A complex, intriguing field blend, the 2021 Nervo Heritage Wine is laced with dried autumn leaves, dried flowers, mint, tobacco and cedar. The Nervo is distinctive not just for its age (it was planted in 1896) for the presence of the rarely-seen Negrette as the second most prominent variety in the Zinfandel-based field blend. Readers will find a wine with strong earthy, spice and leafy notes that are pushed forward, while the fruit is more in the background."
