"The 2023 Rawländer is a pure Pinot Gris, vinified into a dark pink wine of beguiling color. The name itself is a pun on Ruländer, an old German synonym for Pinot Gris. This is from destemmed grapes, skin-fermented for ten days and matured in used 300-liter oak barrels. This was grown on the Spiegel site. The nose is full of flinty reduction. However, the palate is juicy, beautifully structured, fresh, juicy and beautifully textured, with phenolics that have just the right grip and immense flow, with just an edge of pepper. This is an immensely gastronomic wine with beautiful drive and freshness. It is joyful but not facile. On the contrary, the 2023 is a beautiful rendition of Pinot Gris. (Bone-dry)"
