Pear Brandy

Pear Brandy

Pear Brandy
  • Pear brandy produced by St. George Spirits in Alameda, California
  • Made from 100% Bartlett pears grown in Colorado and harvested at peak ripeness
  • Whole pears are crushed then fermented in stainless steel tanks for approximately 1 week
  • Distilled once in a copper Holstein still
  • Rested for several months in stainless steel tanks before bottling; new make is incorporated into batches from previous harvests
  • An astonishingly fruit-forward nose leads to a dry palate redolent of ripe Bartlett pears with subtle honey notes and a hint of spice; further tasting reveals a buttery richness that’s balanced by steely minerality
  • No added sugar
  • 40% ABV

It takes thirty to forty pounds of Bartlett pears to make one small and labor-intensive batch of St. George’s flagship eau-de-vie—the spirit they’ve been producing for over forty years and that put the distillery on the map. The pears are dry farmed (a technique that prioritizes water conservancy in arid climates) and harvested at peak ripeness to capture the true character of the season. Try this vibrant unaged brandy in highballs with cider or tonic or add a whisper of late-summer whimsy to your next Martini.

Though St. George produces several batches of pear brandy per season, this popular spirit is truly an agricultural product, dependent on harvest yields, and tends to run out quickly!
