Haag's 2019 Juffer Sonnenuhr Riesling GG shows a deliciously fine and intense bouquet with flinty and reductive notes underlining the perfectly ripe and concentrated yet delicate Riesling aromas. Round and lush yet vital on the palate, this is a creamy-textured, finessed and elegant JSU with mouthfeel and a long, intensely salty, stimulating and grippy finish. Excellent. Tasted at the domain in September 2020.
Some youthful funk on the nose (probably from wild ferment), but also a ton of white-flower and dripping-leaf aromas that line up beautifully with the super elegant palate. Just a hint of creaminess augments this beautifully. Long, subtle, stony finish. Better after 2021.
