Variety: Riesling • Region: Mosel • Vineyard: Graacher Domprobst • Soil Type: Blue Devonian Slate • Fermentation & Élevage: Spontaneous fermentation in old Mosel Fuder
In most vintages, there are two Spätlesen made from the Domprobst vineyard, #5 & #10. These are not barrel distinctions but rather an indication of the style. #10 is the wine that leans in the “crunchier” direction while #5 shows more opulent fruit and richness.

"The 2024 Riesling Graacher Domprobst Spätlese #5 sends wet slate as its very first impression on the nose. More distant airy notions, almost of forest, moss, fern, woodruff and citrus appear above the stoniness. Lightness defines the palate which assails you like a scented cloud, bearing subtle, tempered sweetness. The 2024 is breezy, seductive and profound. All here is tender, linear and stony yet so utterly dreamy. (Sweet)"

"The 2024 Graacher Domprobst Riesling Spätlese #05 opens bright and floral on the coolish and finely slate-inflected nose that reveals lemon rind notes along with delicate Riesling aromas. Round, lush, vital and sweet on the first taste, this is a mouth-filling and dense yet delicate, even filigreed Spätlese with a fine, savory, saline and very mouthwatering finish with delicately crunchy slate grip. 7.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in January 2026 (AP 5 25)."

"The astonishing precision of the exotic ripeness and enveloping floral aromas make this extremely concentrated 2022 Mosel Spatlese stand head and shoulders above the majority of the vintage. Then comes the fabulous wet stone freshness that drives the extremely long and totally cool finish. Great aging potential. Drink or hold."

"The 2023 Graacher Domprobst Riesling Spätlese #5 is intense and dense on the nose that shows super ripe and partly overripe tropical (mango) fruit yet less of the finesse of the Domprobst slate, at least at this early stage. On the palate, however, comes the energy and stimulating phenolic bite of the Domprobst, paired with a generously lush texture. The acidity is savory yet not as fine and playful as the Spätlese #10, but the wine has substance, length and complexity. Some prefer the #10, while others might opt for this one. It should be interesting to taste both wines again after 10 years. 7.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in August 2024."

"The 2023 Riesling Graacher Domprobst Spätlese #5 shines with notes of wet slate and Navel orange peel. There is a darker, more defined and intense aspect, creating a melting, soothing mouthfeel. This revels in its aroma, diving deep into citrus and slate with immense delineation and purity. In the company of its Spätlese siblings, this is bolder yet defined by the Schaefer elegance. (Sweet)"
