Eierfels Riesling Trocken

Schlossgut Diel Eierfels Riesling Trocken

Variety: Riesling • Region: Nahe • Vineyard: Dorsheimer Goldloch and Dorsheimer Burgberg • Soil Type: Loam, gravel, quartz, slate • Fermentation & Élevage: Large used barrels

Originally harvested as Grosses Gewächs (GG) and produced in wood barrels, the wine is a blending of fruit from Goldloch and Burgberg. The wine is named for the Eierfels, a natural landmark that resembles an egg laid on its side and which serves as the boundary between the two world-class sites. After a gentle pressing the wine is fermented in large used barrels, and left in extended contact with the lees.

"Very refined and elegant for Germany™s cool, crisp 2024 vintage. Complex, citrusy aromas are still slowly unfurling. Lovely wet-stone minerality on the sleek, medium-bodied palate leads to a polished finish. Drink or hold."

"Sourced in the Goldloch and the Burgberg, the 2024 Riesling Dorsheim Eierfels is the super second wine of the eponymous grands crus. The wine opens with a deep and generous yet also refined and elegant bouquet of bright fruits, crushed salt, flint stones and savory phenols. Textured and remarkably refined on the palate, this is a full-bodied, very elegant, fine and savory-finishing Riesling with healthy phenol grip, good mineral tension and mouthwatering length. Still very young, this is an excellent, sustainable and tensioned Dorsheimer with class, grip and style as well as excellent aging capacity. 11.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in April 2026."

"From the Goldloch and Burgberg crus, the 2023 Riesling Dorsheim Eierfels opens with an intense and floral as well as flinty and smoky bouquet of ripe and well-concentrated yellow fruits and crushed stones. Full-bodied, intense and juicy on the palate, this is a seriously structured, still young but quite mineral Riesling from younger vines in top sites. 12.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in Burg Layen in February 2025."

"The interplay of stone fruit and saltiness on the beautifully balanced medium-bodied palate makes this a delicious and fascinating dry riesling. Impressive concentration and minerality make this dry riesling a top GG look-alike. Very long, structured"

"The 2022 Riesling Burg Layer Eierfels was harvested in the sites of Goldloch, pebbly Permian conglomerate and Burgberg on quartzite. The name is derived from an egg-shaped rock between the two sites. It was fermented and matured on gross less in Stück. Yeast, narcissus and lemon peel combine into a scented nose. Later on, a riper red apple joins in. The palate is lithe and bright, with a slightly spicy notion of yeast, flickering with salt and a touch of salted preserved lemon. The finish is bone dry and ends with a serene sense of lemon juice and pith. (Bone-dry)"

"The 2022 Riesling Dorsheim Eierfels is intense and floral on the pure and fragrant nose. Savory, saline and pure on the palate, this is a rather ascetic Riesling that lacks a bit of juicy roundness, the more so if compared to the more hedonistic 2023. The finish is dense and saline yet a little bit drying. 12% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in Burg Layen in February 2025."
