"The 2022 Chardonnay was grown in the Goldberg, Honigberg and Eselspfad and fermented 80% barrique, the rest in tonneaux, with about 30% new wood. Smoky reduction, a whiff of flint and delicate creaminess make for an enticing nose. The palate shows ripeness in its beautifully smooth, juicy texture and retains that smoky verve that makes it so appetizing. Fine acidity is bright. This does not come across as specifically German Chardonnay as it is a well-made, limestone-based wine that could be from many temperate climates. The finish shows a little malo-lactic milkiness. One to lead your friends astray with. (Bone-dry)"
