"An excellent example of the new German chardonnays that you could easily mistake for village wines from St. Aubin in Burgundy. Very flinty, with bright candied lemon peel and wild herb aromas. Medium-bodied with a compact, chalky tannin structure and a long finish. A cuvee of mature and young vines from organically grown grapes. Matured in 25% new oak and 75% used oak barrique casks. Drink or hold."

"The 2022 Chardonnay was grown in the Goldberg, Honigberg and Eselspfad and fermented in barrique and tonneaux, with about 30% new wood. Cream, flint, lemon and chalk unite on the nose. The palate displays immense cohesion, as all these elements seem readily combined and perfectly aligned to flow. This flinty, crackling yet utterly soothing wine has verve and exquisite acidity, despite full malolactic fermentation. It expresses itself with such clarity and energy. (Bone-dry)"

"A clean, precise version of the grape, this white offers lemon, flint, and subtle spice and floral flavors. It is vibrant and balanced, with a lingering aftertaste of citrus and white raspberry, with a stony undertow. Skurnik Wines, Inc. —A.Z."

"A touch of struck match but not too much. A little bit of oak spice. Sophisticated Chardonnay with excellent freshness and a creamy texture. Pure citrus and a touch of clementine, leading to a long, complex finish. GV (JH)"

"What an elegant and polished chardonnay this is. Germany is now producing wines that can match Burgundian village wines, but at a fraction of the price. I love the silky texture, and the integration of fruit and oak is spot-on, right through the long, delicately chalky finish. From organically grown grapes. Matured in 30% new and 70% used barrique oak casks. Drink from release."

"The 2023 Chardonnay is from Knewitz's premier limestone sites, namely Goldberg, Honigberg and Eselspfad. This was made exclusively in oak, of which about a third was new. A verve of green walnuts adds a salty, savory allure. The 2023 is so fresh and fluid, with lovely fill and texture over a chalky backdrop. What beautiful resonance and length this has. (Bone-dry)"
