"Formerly labelled 'Estate', the wine was renamed Maritima starting with the 2022 vintage to avoid confusion with the West Sonoma Coast Chardonnay label and to better reflect its coastal identity. It's mostly estate fruit from several blocks planted to different clones around the property, with a small portion coming from the nearby Richardson site. The vines stand just four miles from the ocean, and the maritime influence is quite clear. Aromas of wet stone, sea spray, lemon pith, and a faint herbal note immediately bring to mind a beach day. The palate shows citrus peel, apple skins, and velvety snow peaches, with a bright, silky mouthfeel and a saline freshness that lingers through the finish. Fermented with modest new oak (about 17%) and aged for 11 months, the wine keeps its tension and clarity - exactly the kind of Chardonnay I want to drink on a sunny day."
