"From a single north-facing vineyard and entirely Pinot Noir, the 2019 Champagne Carres Du Midi is medium copper with a gold-tinged hue and is ripe with notes of black cherry liqueur, purple flowers, sweet citrus, biscotti, and hazelnut. Leaning toward full-bodied, it floats on the palate with a pillowing mousse, a chalky, even texture, and notes of hay and button mushrooms. It's a very appealing wine to drink over the coming 10- 12 years."

"A core of black cherry and raspberry fruit and a rich hint of toasted brioche are spiced with graphite, anise and cardamom. That warm thread of flavors is counterpointed by bright acidity and notes of blood orange peel and minerally chalk and salt. Lightly textured, with a raw silk feel to the mousse as it carries the profile on the lingering finish. Drink now through 2035.—A.N."
