"From the Jax estate, an 2.5ha site of silty loam soils at the base of Mt. St. Helena, in Calistoga. Aged 21 months in 50% new French oak. Terrifically fruit-forward. Fragrant dark berry fruit with sweet cedar notes. The fruit-forward style with a softer, more lush tannin profile comes from growing in Calistoga, though there are plenty of grape-skin tannins that come from the warmth up-valley. The location of the site allows for cool mornings and evenings. But the warmth of the day helps ripen those skin tannins, while that book-ended coolness factor layers in freshness. It's a fantastically plush and layered red at a tremendous value price. In 2012, Dan Parrott became a proprietor of the Jax brand and began working with winemaker Kirk Venge."

"A fruity and well-made cabernet sauvignon expressing aromas of dark berries, dried herbs, bay leaves and hints of cola. It's full-bodied and rich with plush tannins. Generous and opulent with dark berries and chocolate in the finish. Better after 2025."

"Kirk Venge is doing a nice job with the wines from Jax Vineyards. This 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate boasts plenty of cassis, blackberries and blueberries on the nose. It's medium to full-bodied, showing lots of fruit and being nicely ripe and concentrated without going over the top into simple jamminess. Long, silky and immediately approachable, it represents a good value among the sea of Napa Valley Cabernets."

"Fully ripe, jammy aromas and flavors dominate this full-bodied, moderately tannic wine, giving it a posh, plush mouthfeel and almost sweet finish. The impressions of dried cherries, dried plums and blueberries are generous and delicious. —J.G."

"A luscious, relaxed wine that's so soft you wouldn't think it's a cabernet until the finish, where a touch of tannin comes in. Plump blueberries, blackberries, dark chocolate and vanilla bean on a full body with a broad, plush texture. Drink now."

"The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon JAX Estate is a terrific value, with a plump, forward, delicious style in its blue fruits as well as classic tobacco and chocolaty nuances. Medium to full-bodied, nicely balanced, and textured on the palate, it has the vintage's pure, lively style as well as outstanding length. The blend is 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc, aged 22 months in 70% new French oak."
