"The complex blood orange, spice and pomegranate aromas are married to a sleek, medium-bodied palate. Healthy tannins an crisp acidity anchor the wine. Surprising length and an interesting touch of smoke in the well-structured finish. Drink or hold."

"This youthful German pinot noir reminds me of really good Savigny-les-Beaune from Brugundy. Needs a moment in the glass to aerate, but when it does there™s a wealth of fine red berry aromas plus notes of licorice and cooked red beets. Only a hint of spicy oak, but stacks of subtle earthy character on the focused, medium-bodied palate. Long, crisp finish that has very positive energy. Drinkable now, but best from 2025."

"The 2020 Spätburgunder Bönnigheim Sonnenberg VDP.Erste Lage opens with a dark, fresh and spicy sour cherry aroma with attractive earthy and toasty as well as spicy, peppery notes. Round and textural on the palate, this is a full-bodied, elegant and juicy Pinot with fine and spicy tannins and stimulating salinity on the tart yet well-balanced and intensely fruity yet still a little bit reserved finish. 13% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in March 2024."
