"Pretty floral aromas abound in the 2022 vintage of this wine. It comes from four different plots in the Villegas paraje and it is certainly representative of the zone. Violets and blackberry fruit give way to red pepper and cherry notes while the palate is voluptuous and voluminous even if tannins are a little rustic. There,s an earthiness to the wine, a ferrous character, which adds to the complexity. An appealing cola note on the finish. 2024-29"

"The 2022 Ultreia Valtuille blends Mencía and Trousseau from Valtuille, Bierzo. It was planted on clay soils in shaded parcels, aged in older barrels and whole-cluster fermented. The 2022 offers sanguine notes of red and dark fruit and a touch of herbs and mint. Firm, tense tannins highlight its fine-grained, juicy texture. It delivers intensity and depth with a compact structure."

"The 2022 Ultreia Valtuille comes from different plots in the lieu-dit of Villegas. The wine has contained alcohol but has a roundness and a ripe sensation on the nose. They are using 25% foudres for the ,levage here, and that percentage will be increased in the future. It has a medium to full-bodied palate with abundant, slightly dusty tannins. Some 4,800 bottles produced."

"#5 Top 100 Wines of Spain 2025: Subtle nerve with a touch of violets, red berries and an herbal note. The palate is medium- to full-bodied, leaning toward the former, with precise, integrated tannins. From a centenary vineyard in Villegas lieu-dit, it feels approachable yet taut, with an elegant touch to the fruit. Whole-cluster fermented with a long maceration. Drink or hold. But this should age gracefully."

"I love the clean and precise nose of the 2023 Ultreia Valtuille; it's floral and perfumed with lots of violets and more elegant than I remember of other vintages. It's really approachable and fine-boned, with ripe and elegant tannins. It comes from a vineyard planted in 1887. 5,000 bottles produced."

"A lovely, creamy red, with good density and focus set in a light- to medium-bodied frame. Reveals hints of dried lavender and sage that waft through notes of blackberry paste and fresh loamy earth, with aromatic floral, spice and mineral accents lingering on the lightly chewy finish. Drink now through 2030. 275 cases made, 100 cases imported."
