"The 2021 Champagne Grand Cru Mesnil-sur-Oger Lieu-Dit Auge Brut Nature pours a brilliant silver/straw color and offers notes of lemon balm, fresh apples, yellow fruit, and chalky earth. Made from 100% Chardonnay, it's vertical and straight and the most reductive of the range. Medium-bodied, it has great tension but is not austere, with fantastic electricity and a lot of gastronomic focus. Drink 2025-2045. This vineyard is one of their latest plots, planted in 1971 and located behind the restaurant Le Mesnil. A lack of topsoil contributes to the wine's verticality, and while the producers aim for high maturity, the wine retains a refreshing feel."

"In the context of Domaine Vincey™s portfolio, the 2020 Blanc de Blancs Le Mesnil-sur-Oger Auge, issuing from a flat, northeast-facing plot, is the most chiseled wine. Planted in 1971 to massal selection Chardonnay, with about 50 centimeters of clay topsoil over chalk, it delivers one of the more compact and linear wines in the range, revealing aromas of elderflower, grapefruit, pine nuts and mirabelle plum mingling with oyster shell. Medium-bodied and laden with mouthwatering acidity, it™s energetic and precise, concluding with a long, saline finish. Quentin Vincey told me that Auge stays in the fog quite late in the mornings and is one of the last plots they harvest; in other words, it™s a site that truly captures the freshness and precision, and I found much to admire in this wine. It was disgorged in May 2024 without dosage."
