Cannonball Wines, founded in 2006 by Yoav Gilat, an entrepreneur with a passion for wine and a background in law and business, set out to create a brand that embodied the spirit of fun and adventure while maintaining a commitment to high-quality winemaking. His vision was to produce wines that were not only approachable and enjoyable but also reflective of the rich terroir of California.

At the helm of Cannonball Wines is winemaker Ondine Chattan, a seasoned viticulturist and oenologist with a passion for creating expressive and balanced wines. Ondine’s journey into winemaking began with a degree in Viticulture and Enology from UC Davis, followed by years of hands-on experience in various prestigious wineries. Her career includes significant roles at Ravenswood Winery, where she honed her skills in crafting bold Zinfandel-based wines, Coppola Winery, where she contributed to the production of a diverse range of wines, and Cline Cellars, where she was involved in making Rhône-style wines and other varietals. Her approach to winemaking at Cannonball blends traditional techniques with modern practices to bring out the best characteristics of each varietal.

Cannonball Wines’ story is one of creativity and joy. The brand’s iconic label, featuring a diver mid-cannonball, symbolizes the winery’s spirit of adventure and fun. This imagery perfectly captures the essence of their wines—vibrant, lively, and accessible.
