"The Ar. Pe. Pe. 2016 Valtellina Superiore Grumello Riserva Buon Consiglio shows an overripe component with desiccated fruit, potpourri, flinty stone and tart plum with some bitterness. The mouthfeel is a bit flatter overall, with greenhouse herb and leafy vegetable. It is smooth and accessible in terms of mouthfeel and is ready to drink now. Winemaking is extreme, with a very extended 102 days of maceration in wood, followed by 34 months of aging in a combination of chestnut barrel, oak and stainless steel. This is a 12,711-bottle release."

Pe. 2018 Valtellina Superiore Riserva Grumello Buon Consiglio is recognized by its cream-colored label. Dark fruit, iron ore and rusty nail are delivered with extreme elegance and precision. Thanks to the estate's patient release schedule, the wine is drinking beautifully now, with no reason to delay gratification. I love the finesse and transparency achieved here, along with a charming sweetness to the tannins. This is an ethereal expression of Nebbiolo, offering the elegance you might seek in Piedmont through a distinctly mountain interpretation, with a particularly pronounced mineral character. Fruit comes from south-facing vineyards at 350 to 400 meters above sea level on sandy soils over fractured granite. A remarkable 138-day maceration in 50-hectoliter wooden vats precedes 42 months of aging across large wooden vats and casks, stainless steel and bottle."
