'Terra Montosa - Patientia' Riesling Trocken

'Terra Montosa - Patientia' Riesling Trocken

Terra Montosa Patientia Riesling Trocken

It’s the vestibule beyond which are the Grand Crus, basically; in this version there’s some phenolic action (from a new Stückfass), and it shows the muscular side of Riesling, making an adamant point in its salty gravelly way.

"The wonderful nose of Amalfi lemon, white peach and chamomile pulls you into this extremely focused and crystalline dry riesling that may be barely medium-bodied, but has enormous depth of character. Radical stony minerality at the super-long, racy finish. From organically grown grapes with Fair'n Green certification. Drink or hold."

"The 2024 Riesling Terra Montosa is a blend of all of the estate™s steep sites. This has all the floral charm of a wildflower meadow and a supple creaminess. The palate is bone dry and slender, yet beautifully buffered and sinuous. A note of lemon glimmers and shimmers, almost like lemon oil, adding allure to this strait-laced, stony Riesling that is just so pure, honest and beautiful. Bone-dry"

"The peachy core of this excellent dry riesling has an exotic fruit and flower complexity that gives it a unique personality. Intense crushed rock minerality on the very focused, medium-bodied palate. Very long, straight finish with complex candied citrus and wild herb character. From organically grown grapes with Fair'n Green certification. Drink or hold."

"The 2023 Riesling Terra Montosa is made from all the steep sites of the estate: Rüdesheimer Berg Rottland, Berg Roseneck, Berg Schlossberg, Rauenthaler Nonnenberg and Lorcher Pfaffenwies. It is blended after all the single-site wines have been decided on. The 2023 opens with a beautifully serene tone of peppermint tea, followed by pure, ripe, lifted Amalfi lemon peel. The palate has a touch of creaminess from oak that sits well with the generous fruit, swirling and swishing on the streamlined palate. All is present: fine freshness, plush fruit, proper contour and much elan. This is a rather seductive wine for all the Riesling skeptics out there. Bone-dry"

"Bottled in July, the 2023 Terra Montosa is clear and slightly crunchy/slatey on the intense and elegant, finely iodine-inflected and pretty complex nose. Silky, refined and balanced on the palate, this is an intense and substantial yet delicate and balanced Riesling from Rüdesheim Mountain. The wine reveals intense fruit with crunchy minerals and fine phenol grip on the finish. 12% stated alcohol. Diam 10 cork. Tasted in August 2024."

"This mineral masterpiece is very finely nuanced, but it doesn™t mess around, rather it makes a bold statement of intent. Very complex nose of wet stones, rhubarb, white peaches and flowers. Dense yet delicate, structured and filigree, this medium-bodied wine shoots across the palate with a linearity that reminds me of Australian dry riesling, but is married to wonderful wild-herb delicacy. From organically grown grapes with Fair'n Green certification. Drink or hold."

"Although this was only just bottled, it has a very expressive nose that reminds me of œnutty”, old-fashioned apple and pear varieties. So much minerality and delicate spice is packed into this sleek body, which is crystalline in its clarity. Extremely long and precise finish with impressive drive. From organically grown grapes with Fair'n Green certification. Vegan. Drink or hold."
