Ried Steinertal

Steinertal is an extremely complex location that offers optimal terrain for both Grüner Veltliner and Riesling. The situation turns a little to the southwest, so in the evening always gets some heat, which are relativized by air currents from the north accordingly. The ground thickness varies considerably, as does the temperature within the location. The Riesling is rooted in the highest and barren plots and is a reflection of the natural conditions.

"This wine's nose wants to give little away apart from a little tease of crushed yuzu leaf. The palate is similarly taut and still tightly coiled, holding all of its citrus secrets tight. It is the mouthwatering co.ncentration and the pulsating citus energy that emanates from a deeply stony core that gives the game away. This is chiseled and precise but uncompromisingly fresh and mouthwatering. Drink 2030–.2050."

"The 2018 Riesling Smaragd Ried Steinertal is clear, coolish and flinty on the remarkable mineral, herbal and concentrated nose. Crystalline, refined and elegant on the palate, this is a great 2018 Riesling classic from the Wachau. The palate is lush and perfectly ripe but very elegant, fine and sustainable in its crystalline and crunchy structure and its salivating salinity. A fascinating wine. Tasted at the domain in September 2019 . Drink 2020-2040."

These aromatic citrus notions swirl on the palate, offering up hints of juicy peach here and riper tangerine there. All of this exuberance is anchored in a stony and slender but solid core.
