Ried Höhereck

The vineyard is characterized by barren and stony ground, which hardly exists in many places and allows the gneiss to penetrate. The higher corner exposes itself directly to the south, but the solar radiation is cushioned by continuous winds from the northwest. Ideal terroir for Riesling, which is generally a bit creamier here than in the Steinertal valley, but similarly mineral.

"The 2022 Riesling Höhereck Smaragd is from a steep parcel within a small, elevated yet sheltered site. The poor soil has just 35-40cm of topsoil on orthogneiss. Tangerine and lemon balm aromas make for a gently lifted nose. The aromatic freshness stretches out and expands its citrus charm across the palate, tingling with citric aroma, verging on lovely, gentle zestiness. This has such a light touch and such elegant, citrus-fragrant stony depth—all handled so gently. (Bone-dry)"
