'Privat' Ried Hochäcker 1 ÖTW Kremstal DAC Riesling
'Privat' Ried Hochäcker 1 ÖTW Kremstal DAC Riesling
The steep terraces, which are only separated from the Ried Pellingen by a wall, with their mica slate floor form the ideal conditions for growing Riesling. This combination gives the Riesling the dark, cool minaralik as well as the typical vineyard peach taste a lot of substance and a long life. The Riesling Privat comes from this location.

"The 2023 Riesling Hochäcker is from a steep site on mica schist that neighbors Pellingen. Made in stainless steel, it combines a touch of green fennel seed with pale lemon on the nose. The palate has a zesty concentration in all its svelteness, spraying with lemon and lovely stoniness. This fine, pure lemon peel notion accentuates the beautiful linearity even more. The 2023 is svelte, understated and most convincing. (Bone-dry)"

"The stunning stone fruit and jasmine aromas are married to a gentle tannin structure on the medium- to full-bodied palate. The acidity lifts the ample structure and propels it forward across the palate, but as the tannins become more prominent, its pace becomes a bit sluggish. Drink or hold."

"Very cool Riesling, powerful but restrained, all citrus, herbs and stone, filigreed with fine but steely acidity. Not showing a lot of complexity right now but succeeds on delicacy, and is sure to develop further with time in bottle. (TQT)"

"Nigl's 2022 Ried Hochäcker 1–TW Riesling Privat has a noble, fine and intense nose with mineral substance and dense, elegant fruit aromas. Dense, rich and savory on the palate, with fine, elegant, well-integrated acidity and rested length, this is a mouthful of Riesling and substance with simultaneous elegance and subtlety. 13% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at Schloss Grafenegg, September 2023."

"This is a fine example of a classic Austrian Riesling, showing peach and quince flavors, accented by wet stone and exotic spice notes. It sports beautiful concentration yet remains silky and elegant. The finish is inviting and multilayered. — Aleks Zecevic"
