"The 2021 Sant Laurent Ried Holzspur is shy on the nose. The dark color promises concentration that the palate promptly delivers. The fruit is ripe and smooth with red and black cherry and a touch of tar. This is not ready to charm yet. It is closed within itself with brooding dark aspects, but all the hallmarks of a great future are there: edges of licorice and Amarena, dense, tight but fine tannins and superb freshness, all in a compact package. The 2021 needs bottle age. (Bone-dry)"

"The 2022 Sankt Laurent Ried Holzspur, picked from vines planted in 1956 and 1958, was fermented with around a third of whole bunches. The nose propels dark, ripe cherry with a dusting of cocoa. The palate presents fused, smooth, fine tannins and vivid brightness. This is concentrated, showing tautness and juiciness in equal measure, reeling you in with the sheer quality of tannic finesse. This is really beautiful."

"The 2020 Ried Holzspur St. Laurent is based on the fruit of the oldest (up to 65 years old) vines of the vineyard with its calcareous, warm and dry alluvial soil. Aged in barriques for 22 months and for another six months on the bottle, the still-to-be-released 2020 opens with a deep, pure, fresh and terroir-driven bouquet of ripe but fresh forest berries intermingled with distinctive mineral notes. Tight, pure and fresh on the palate, this is a full-bodied, dense and refreshingly tannic as well as vivacious St. Laurent with fine tannins intermingled with the saline acidity of this remarkably persistent red wine that already drinks with great pleasure but can also be aged for about two decades. A superb red wine from Tattendorf, Thermenregion. 13% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in January 2023."

"The 2020 Sant Laurent Ried Holzspur was harvested from vines planted in 1956 and 1958. It was fermented with a third of whole bunches and aged for 14 months in a mix of first- and third-fill barriques. The nose is still defined by earthy reduction. The palate is dense and swishes in with a tight, silky weave of tannin. This is a mouthful of wine, dense, bold, yet elegant. The 2020 has much power with freshness and a lasting finish. It's quite a big Sankt Laurent that needs bottle age. (Bone-dry)"
