"From 40+-year-old vines on deep, lime-rich glacial deposits, Reinisch's dark colored 2020 Ried Frauenfeld St. Laurent opens with an intensely aromatic and elegant bouquet of dark fruits with coconut chocolate and spicy tannin and toast notes. Aged for 14 months in predominantly French barriques (of which 50% were new), this is a full-bodied, generously juicy and elegant red wine from this interesting grape variety that needs warm and dry terroirs to fully ripen out. This is a smooth and mouth-filling St. Laurent with fine tannins, lively acidity and stimulating grip on the finish, but the wine still needs a few years on the bottle to gain even more finesse and elegance. 13% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in January 2023."
