"Multilayered and impressively complex, this sings with fresh herbs and hibiscus that elevate and amplify pomegranate and rhubarb. Sappy, flexible tannins weave throughout with counterpoints of tilled earth, crunchy minerals and crushed flowers. A wine with tremendous aging potential but irresistible character already."

"In 2024, the Pinot Noir La Cote stands out for its sheer power and seemingly endless depth. It's the darkest, most potent, most savory wine in the range. Shades of black truffle, soy and nori convey a real sense of umami as the 2024 tracks across the palate with weight and gravitas. Rosewater, rhubarb, red plum fruit and bitter amaro herbs add further dimension, braced on the finish by a calibrated spine of upright tannin. La Côte is considerably less generous at this early stage than it can be, but I consider that a very good sign for the future. There's a sense of sizzling intensity here that can't be ignored."

"This offers an alluring mix of mulberry, cherry and boysenberry puree notes that are liberally flecked with savory, pennyroyal, bergamot and rose hip accents. The taut finish is lengthy, with a flinty echo lingering just underneath the fruit and savory aspects, adding a measure of intrigue."

"This small-production bottling is super savory in aroma and so chalky, stony and iron-like in flavor. The grapes come from the top half of the steep estate vineyard slope. Grown on a combination of three soil types, the wine gives potent black pepper, ashes and iron to savor. So extreme and distinctive in style. Drink or hold."

"Thyme, sage and savory notes spike a core of intense griotte fruit, while flashes of pomegranate, damson plum and blood orange work their way in as well. The long, mouthwatering finish has a terrific chiseled feel, with a wet flint note as its energy source. Best from 2026 through 2040. From California. "J.M."

"The 2023 Pinot Noir La Côte delivers all of the salty, savory, mineral tones you would expect from this site as it dives deep into a well of complexity. Herbal tincture, liquid florals, Japanese nori and dark, brambly berry fruit open with coaxing. Today, La Côte is a seriously muscular, inward beast, but it's impossible to miss the textural harmony and integration here. This is seriously impressive and undeniably La Côte."

"Following up on my tasting prior to bottling, the 2023 Pinot Noir La Côte is the most filled-in and concentrated wine on the roster, showing its perennially high-toned, lifted aromatics that contrast its twisted, sinewy, seamless and lacy texture. The finish is weightless yet punchy and extravagant, concluding with beautiful purity and stunning length. As seen in previous vintages, one can glimpse the potential for evolution here in real time, as the wine ceaselessly morphs and adds additional layers of aromatic intrigue, refined structural grip and electric energy that harmonize impeccably. This is an incredibly impressive showing, and I am eager to follow its trajectory."

"The 2022 Pinot Noir La Côte opens with a composed, harmonious nose that only hints at the concentration and weightless density found within, combining bright, high-toned fruit aromas with profound, grounded, savory flourishes. The palate is striking in its layered, nearly opulent power, which admirably manages impressive richness without losing focus, drive or allure. The finish is similarly multidimensional and expansive, wrapping up the wine with bright acidity and precise, fine-grained, powdery tannins. This wine never stopped morphing and expanding in the glass, both in aromatic fidelity and in the dimension of the finish, suggesting this has plenty of potential in the cellar."

"The 2022 Pinot Noir La Côte is the most intensely savory and mineral of the Pinots here. In that sense, it offers an extremely vivid expression of the rugged, windswept nature of this site on the far western edge of the Sta. Rita Hills. Crushed rocks, dried herbs, lavender, cedar, sweet pipe tobacco and red cherry fruit abound. There is a feeling of youthful austerity to La Côte that will appeal most to readers who enjoy taut, sinewy Pinots."
