A complex blend anchored by all the Garnatxas (Negra, Rosa, and Blanca) with contributions of old-vine Ull de Llebre, Macabeu, and Carinyena • grapes are direct-pressed, picking up just a hint of color and cofermented very slowly for six months in thoroughly neutral barrels, where the new wine rests on the lees for an additional 7-8 8 months • juice is racked for its final elevage to an ancient 4260L German foudre from the Mosel, a 3000L clay amphora and additional barrels as necessary for another 10 months of refinement

"Husband and wife team René Barbier and Sara Pérez are the children of winemakers at two wineries that put Spain's Priorat region on the map: Clos Mogador and Mas Martinet. The hot, dry region in northeast Spain is known for its unabashedly bold, tannic wines, but Barbier and Pérez wanted to showcase a different, lighter side of the region with their Venus la Universal project. Dido is a blend of local grapes including Garnatxa Negra, Macabeu, Ull de Llebre (Tempranillo), and Garnatxa Blanca. The wine is subtle on the nose, with some soft aromas of vanilla and red berries, but the palate's complex layers of texture and flavor really impressed us. There's a creamy, round mouthfeel to the wine accented with hints of dried herbs and cinnamon. Savory and nuanced, this rosé invites contemplation, yet it's just at home shared casually over dinner with friends."

"I didn't taste the 2022 Dido La Solució Rosa last year because it's a wine they tend to bottle later, and in this first year of heat and drought, it translated into a paler wine with a more austere expression, with contained ripeness and 13.5% alcohol. It's mostly Garnacha Tinta with some Garnacha Blanca and Garnacha Gris and the rest Macabeo, Tempranillo and Cariñena, all pressed directly and co-fermented. It's very tasty, more expressive than the nose, with a fine thread, fine tannins and a long, chalky finish."

"The 2022 Dido La Solución Rosa is a blend of Garnatxa Tinta, Garnatxa Blanca, Macabeu and other varieties from Montsant. Fermented in barrels and very old foudres, this copper-hued wine offers enticing aromas of cherry cream, wildflowers and herbs. Dry and mildly refreshing, it has a velvety palate that lingers with a savory, lasting finish. This is a savory Rosé ideal for food pairings."
