[Quant] Estate Riesling

[Quant] Estate Riesling

Quant Estate Riesling

Variety: Riesling • Region: Mosel • Vineyard: Leiwener Klostergarten • Soil Type: Slate • Fermentation & Élevage: Natural fermentation in stainless steel

This is an estate wine, all from the Leiwener Klostergarten, from older vines that they purchased in the 1980s. Since then, they have had to plant some younger vines, but they took the material from the best quality old vines from the site.

‘Quant’ is a word in the regional dialect that is a down-to-earth way to say something is good. Christopher says, “It expresses a feeling of complete well-being” and is typically used in atmospheres where family, friends, and food are present.

Unlike a lot of gutsriesling, these are grapes harvested deeper in the harvest with slightly higher ripeness, resulting in a wine has a beautiful fruit character and density while retaining blissful drinkability.

"This barely off-dry Mosel riesling is juicy and elegant, with remarkable substance for an entry-level wine. The fine tannins deftly support the medium-bodied palate. Long, compact finish that™s beautifully balanced. Vegan. Drink now. Screw cap."

"The 2024 Riesling Quant, this year was harvested in the Thörnicher Schiesslay and supplemented by Leiwener Klostergarten, all from their own massal selection. It opens with herbal subtlety. Fresh hay, yarrow and crushed St John's Wort aromas unite on the nose. The palate is smooth and buffered. All is ripe, somehow serene and concentrated with a gentle juiciness. It is slender, yet with quite an impact for an estate wine. Bravo. Dry"

"Subtle aromas of apple seed, dried melon and persimmon are neatly intertwined with geranium and aloe. Shows Mosel delicacy, with an upright backbone, featuring mineral and spice flavors that tighten up attractively. There™s a tug of fruit skin bitterness on the palate. Drink now through 2038."K.B."

"A blend of fruit from Loewen™s parcels in Thörnich and Leiwen, this dry riesling has a mineral abrasion to its acidity, integrated and still tense. That acidity is stony, driving the fruit forward, targeting its clean, refreshing flavor at pan-roasted river fish."
