"Defined by extended maturation on the lees, Doyard™s 2012 Extra-Brut Grand Cru Les Lumières was disgorged in October 2023 with a dosage of 1.6 grams per liter. Uniting the taut structure and tension of the northeast-facing Chardonnay site in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger with the flesh and perfume of south-facing Pinot Noir from A -Champagne, complemented by a small contribution from Avize, it is now beginning to exhibit the first nuances of evolution. Soaring from the glass with a bouquet of red apple, peach and dried flowers mingled with toasted nuts and savory inflections, it is full-bodied, powerful and ample, underpinned by ripe yet vibrant acidity and with a chalky grip on the finish. A decidedly gourmand wine, it is entering a particularly compelling phase, and the bottles can be approached with confidence."

"Showing quince and tarte tatin, this has a gastronomic style with oxidative yet balanced aromas, zabaglione, butter and lemon curd. Medium-bodied, it shines on the palate with freshness, medium-sized bubbles, zesty acidity and a tight yet polished aftertaste. Drink now."

"Doyard's 2012 Extra-Brut Grand Cru Les LumiŠres was disgorged only a few days before I tasted it, with just over one gram per liter dosage, but its considerable potential is already amply apparent. Unfurling in the glass with aromas of crisp, golden orchard fruit, green mango and buttery pastry mingled with subtle hints of white flowers and peach, it's full-bodied, vinous and enveloping, with a pillowy mousse, racy acids and a long, resonant finish. Seamless and complete, it's the usual blend of Chardonnay from Mesnil-sur-Oger and Pinot Noir from Aœ. I revisited another bottle a few months later, and it only confirmed my original assessment that this is one of the wines of the vintage in Champagne in 2012."
