"The 2020 Blaufränkisch Ried Goldberg is from a pure mica schist site that lies at twice the altitude of Marienthal, and while its soil is warmer, it is well-ventilated. Slight smoke spells graphite and depicts a most brooding nature. The palate is dense, and tannins are astringent and rub like a cat's paw. Everything about this is dense, energetic and driven. Where limestone imbues Blaufränkisch with coolness, this lends heat, drive and sheer power that does not rely on either extraction or oak. The finish is smooth and calm, like a smoking gun after it's been fired. And yet, there is much finesse. Beautifully done. Wait for this. (Bone-dry)"
