"From 64-year-old vines in the Schulen parcel see the corresponding NV S 22, the 2022 Jaspis Pinot Noir Zipsin is generous and intense on the typical Spätburgunder nose that is open, wide and reminiscent of ripe and potted red fruits mainly cherries, rose petals and pepper and more receptive to toast or oak aromas like newer or French clones. This is charming yet also a bit old-fashioned, if we may say so. On the palate, this is a silky, fresh and generous, full-bodied yet elegant Pinot Noir from Baden. Otherwise, the wine is surprisingly dense and tight on the palate but also transparent enough and silky and fresh, with a stimulating tannin and acidity complex that makes discussions about clones or national genetics irrelevant here anyway. This is a dense, spicy, characterful, idiosyncratic and tightly structured Burgundy with impressive length and Teutonic freshness."

"Much more appealing than the Talrain. Good balance. Long and powerful. (JR)"
