Ried Lamm 1 ÖTW Kamptal DAC Grüner Veltliner

Ried Lamm 1 TW Kamptal DAC Grner Veltliner

Variety: Grüner Veltliner • Region: Kamptal • Vineyard: Ried Lamm • Soil Type: Permian sandstone, clay • Fermentation & Élevage: Austrian Manhatsberg oak cask

Ried Lamm:
Ried Lamm is situated on the southeast slope of the Heiligenstein. Besides erosion material from Heiligenstein (perm, red siltstone) a high proportion of clay can be found here. The vineyard is south-facing and very well exposed. This helps develop the grapes for a wine that, after maturation in traditional double-foudre casks from local forest of Manhartsberg, shows great power and elegance.

"Fragrant nectarine, chamomile, honey and herb aromas follow through to a creamy, full-bodied palate. Delicious salty and savory undertones complement the yellow fruit, carrying through to a long and richly flavorful finish. Drink now or hold."

"The 2023 Gruner Veltliner Ried Lamm, picked at the foot of the Heiligenstein, is grown on a mix of loess and sand debris. This golden wine retains a vestige of reduction that soon gives way to gentle savor, uniting white pepper, a touch of miso and crushed sage. Juiciness sweeps up these salty elements, landing on white miso spiciness and surrounding it with ripe, juicy yellow pear flavors. An edge of zestiness keeps the saltiness ever present, running like a thread through this wine, which could be just a tad longer."

"With its dried papaya notes and leesy, spicy complexity, this Ried Lamm makes a bold statement. Rich on the front of the full-bodied palate. The textural complexity builds in the long finish, which has plenty of candied pineapple freshness, salty minerality and savory character."

"The 2022 Grüner Veltliner Ried Lamm is a loess site on sandstone at the foot of Heiligenstein. It was fermented and aged in large, 5,000 and 6,000-liter oak, one of them new. A touch of honey on the nose insinuates itself on a creamy nose. More air adds gentle spice, almost like anise. The palate takes this same spice and creaminess and unites them in pear juiciness. The texture and savor make the wine. The body is rounded but has a fresh, zesty contour. It is gentle and smooth but really fresh with a long, chamomile-like savor. (Bone-dry)"

"A gentle honeyed note introduces a deep golden aroma of mature fruit " golden pear, bitter orange " with no loss of freshness and energy. Slightly woody/cedary (not oaky). In fact there is a slight sour note on the finish which adds to the freshness. Mouth-filling and yet fresh and long, with a slight chalkiness on the finish. A wine you cannot (should not) rush. (JH)"

"The 2021 Grüner Veltliner Ried Lamm has a hint of nutty, creamy oak. The palate also has a creaminess, and a flavor of freshly peeled green banana that expands into the woodland-scented freshness of moss. The palate has resonance and fluidity, beautifully captured understated ripeness and an inner calm that exudes quiet power. The body is fine, rounded, smooth and absolutely harmonious, finishing long and vibrant. (Bone-dry)"

"Showing clear, elegant fruit of ripe, spicy pear with a fine terroir tone, the 2021 Ried Lamm 1–TW is a finely juicy, very elegant and full-bodied but not alcoholic Grüner Veltliner with delicate acidity and stimulating salinity. It is a stylistically confident, typical Kamptal cru from the foot of the Heiligenstein. 13.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at Schloss Grafenegg, September 2023."

"Well crafted, classic style, this shows a lot of substance, with a rich mix of peach, tarragon and orchard blossom, with more than enough acidity to support it. Finish is long and features a mineral crunch. "A.Z."
