"Guillaume Doyard has been working hard on his still wines for several years now, and with the 2020 Coteaux Champenois A~ Rouge he is really emerging as a very serious player in this category. Produced from the lieu-dit Bonottes in A~ (Doyard has also planted some Burgundian massal selections in his home village of Vertus, so watch this space), it's a sensual, supple, medium-bodied red evocative of cherries, sweet red berries, petals and spices. The wine's filigree texture and mineral finish mark it out as distinctively Champenois, even if the wine's ,levage and depth of fruit clearly nod to the Cte d'Or."
