"Restrained style with earthy and stony whiffs, depth of black pepper and red to darker fruits. Medium-bodied, crisp and tight yet with good grip and savory length."

"The 2024 Cinsault Wellington Old Vines Basson comes from vines planted in 1900. It is aged in 500-litre French oak and terracotta amphora for 24 months. It has a perfumed bouquet with redcurrant and dark berry fruit, rose petal and fynbos in the background. Wonderful delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, dark berry fruit mixed with graphite and light tobacco notes and a gentle grip, with an understated and transparent finish. Leans more to the austere side of the grape variety in a wholly positive fashion."
