"The 2024 Cinsault (Lodi) emerges from Bechtold, the oldest Cinsault vineyard in the world. Black cherry, gravel, incense, tobacco, licorice, lavender and espresso give the 2024 its somber, almost brooding personality. This potent, muscular Cinsault needs time to be at its finest, but it is seriously impressive, even in the early going."

"Sandlands is a small, personal project by Tegan Passalacqua, centered on championing varieties from sites that have remained outliers in California viticulture. This Cinsault comes from own-rooted vines planted in 1886 at Bechtold Vineyard in Lodi. At 12.6% alcohol, it stays true to Cinsault™s naturally light frame. Lovely aromas of ripe raspberry, orange zest, a delicate floral note, and a touch of white pepper open in the glass. The palate is delicate, with a soft texture and enough structure to give it shape without heaviness. The finish carries a citrusy edge and a sense of minerality, with a line of acidity that keeps the fruit precise. The long, cool 2023 growing season made for a particularly compelling vintage for this wine."

"The 2023 Cinsault is pure and total seduction. Silky, floral and light on its feet, the 2023 is such a pleasure to taste today. Rose petal, orange peel, cinnamon and crushed red berry fruit are all beautifully delineated in the glass. Deceptively light in body, the 2023 is layered and wonderfully expressive. A long, clean finish rounds things out in style."
