"A stand out in the Clos de Luz lineup, the 2023 Massal 1945 Carménère derives from old ungrafted vines planted with small portions of Cabernet Franc and Carignan. Opening with a dark, spice-dominated bouquet with a refreshing herbal twist, the palate is impressively pure, elegant and taut. It concludes with a lush, layered and finessed finish that continues to unfold with time in the glass"an overperforming, contemporary example of Chilean Carménère."

"Paprika, tobacco and sweet spices with some ripe currants and berries. Medium-bodied, this has fine-grained tannins and a juicy, medium-long finish. Subtle spices at the end."

"The 2023 Carménère Massal 1945 comes from old vines in Almahue Valley. Broad in its aromatic expression, this features ash, subtle oak, intense blackberry and black tea. This is attractive and enveloping, with good texture and sapidity. The 2023 is a Carménère straddling classical opulence and modern precision. Its infusion-like note adds charm. This is a fine example for a warm year."

"The 2022 Carménère Clos del Luz Massal 1945 is sourced from an old vineyard planted in Almahue in the Cachapoal Valley. Garnet in hue, it features aromas of plums and white pepper along with a faint green bell pepper note. Indulgent and rich, the ample and juicy palate finishes with a note of black tea. This infusion-like red showcases a clever take on the variety, offering a light yet flavorful palate."

"A fresh, sleek and fragrant carmenere that has red cherries, red plums, bay leaves and fresh herbs on the nose. Some anise, too. Medium-bodied, bright and deliciously herbal, with tight tannins. Drink or hold."

"The effect of the warm and dry year was evident in the 2020 Massal 1945 CarmšnŠre, especially when tasted next to the wine from the cooler 2021. This is creamy and has a roundness in the palate. It has 14.1% alcohol, mellow acidity and abundant, fine-grained, slightly dusty tannins. 30,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in May 2021."
