Leopold Bros 8 Year Old Cask Strength Three Chamber Finished Bourbon
- Straight bourbon whiskey finished in rye whiskey casks produced by Leopold Bros in Denver, Colorado
- Mash bill of 65% corn, 20% floor-malted barley, and 15% rye
- Open-air fermented for 7 days in cypress vats using whiskey and beer yeast
- Double distilled in copper pot stills
- Aged for 8 years in 53-gallon char #3 new American oak and finished in barrels that previously held Leopold Bros Three Chamber Rye
- Flavors of candied apricot and orange marmalade are complemented by graham cracker and oily sweet grains
- Non-chill filtered; bottled at a minimum cask strength of 55% ABV (ABV may change batch to batch)
This eight-year-old limited bourbon is the oldest whiskey that Leopold Brothers has released to date. The location of their dunnage-style warehouse ensures minimal evaporation and ABV fluctuation, but after eight years in barrel, the ABV climbed to a punchy 55%. To balance the loss of some of the sweeter bourbon notes, it was finished in ex–Three Chamber Rye Whiskey casks, amplifying its golden-toned orchard fruit notes with a kiss of oily richness from the coveted three-chamber distilled rye.
