Where is the steak? Meaty with pronounced milk and bitter-chocolate notes at first, this is an unusual blaufrankisch, but with aeration some of the typical spice and licorice of the grape emerge. A very attractive, medium-bodied red wine with plenty of fine-grained tannins through the long, silky finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.
Only a faint note of ripe blueberry, wood smoke and tar can be discerned on the nose, so tightly coiled is this opaque, powerful wine. The palate is equally tight and still holds its aromas and fruit in a tight grip. What is evident already is the sheer power, the tannic density, the velvety generosity, the firm structure. Everything here will play at full volume. A powerful, barely tamed giant.
