"The 2023 La Vitoriana Lomas de Valtuille is a Mencía from the eponymous paraje in Valtuille, sourced from a centenary vineyard. It fermented with 100% whole clusters and aged for up to 11 months in barrel. This is expressive on the nose, with flowers, mint, white pepper and dried blossoms providing aromatic lift. The tannins are fine, the palate is flavorful and the whole-cluster fermentation gives it a compact, tight finish."

"The 2023 La Vizca'na La Vitoriana is the only red from the Vizca'na range that is not from their own vines, as they buy the grapes, 1.1 hectares in the lower part of the lieu-dit that has sandy soils (the other parts have clay). It's quite linear and with good acidity but ripened thoroughly. There are no white grapes here, only a small percentage of Bastardo, and the vines are 100+ years of age. This is a small lieu-dit in a cooler place in the village, a place that is harvested later. Some 5,000 bottles produced."

"The 2022 La Victoriana Lomas de Valtuille, mainly Mencía with Trousseau, is reductive, showing herbal, minty and vegetal notes with pomegranate, elderberry and cherry hints. Fermented with whole clusters and aged in old barrels, the 2022 is broad with firm tannins and dark fruit tones. Compact yet rich (13.5%), it finishes long with hints of hay and layered complexity. Its tight profile conveys character and depth."

"A big, bold and intense style of red which also shows the characteristics of the year. The nose is quite pretty with candy floss and ripe raspberry aromas but the palate reveals darker fruit with blackberries and spice. The tannins are well managed and play their part in a supportive, rather than dominant role, and the wine finishes with a lively lick of cola. Despite the concentration, it is a well balanced Menc¡a that offers significant complexity. 2024-30"

"Even the 2022 La Vizca¡na La Vitoriana shows the effect of the warm and dry year with a darker color and higher ripeness and alcohol. It has notes of dark cherries and plums. It's under 13% alcohol, but the sensation of the wine is of higher ripeness. It has a juicy and velvety palate with fine tannins. 10.000 bottles produced."

"This appealing red shows good focus and fine structure without excessive weight. Flavors of crushed black raspberry, cassis and mountain herbs, plus lots of black pepper, anise and sandalwood accents, expand on the creamy palate, while a minerally underpinning of stone, iron and smoke drives the finish. Drink now through 2035. 834 cases made, 200 cases imported.  –AN"

"An enticing nose of potpourri and spices weaves an aromatic thread through focused ripe black plum, currant, orange peel and mineral flavors. This is lively and harmonious, with fine, crisp tannins defining the finish. Drink now through 2034. 500 cases made, 350 cases imported."
