"Putting my nose in the glass of the 2023 La Muria was like what happened when I smelled the 2021: my heart started beating at a faster pace. The wine has an exhilarating nose of wild berries, flowers and herbs, lifted and ethereal, developing hints of pomegranate and rockrose. The label reads 12.5% alcohol, but in reality, it's a little less, perhaps 12.1% or 12.2%, and it has very fine tannins and heart-stopping balance. They did a very strict selection of the grapes. The wine is super clean and precise, symmetric, kaleidoscopic, with an ethereal quality but with tons of energy and light. I think the hard work has paid off. The tannins are silky, super fine, and the finish is long, clean and very precise. There are 700 bottles of this. It was bottled in May 2025. This is a legend in the making."

"This has a very aromatic nose of smoke, violets and red berries, with floral intensity and very precise fruit. The palate is tight and finely knit, with distinct charm and character. It is seamless and ethereal but compact. Very fine, silky tannins. This comes from the highest vineyard in the Bierzo (1,050 meters). Fermented with whole clusters and long maceration. A unique wine produced in very small quantities. This can be enjoyed now, but I,d love to see how it evolves."

"The 2023 La Muria is a Menc¡a from the highest vineyard in the region, located in the Corull¢n range. It was harvested early and delivers a green-tinged profile with hop-like aromas, floral notes and generous freshness. A touch of underripe red fruit appears on the palate, which is tense and lightly grippy with a lingering herbal note. Long and flavorful, the 2023 gradually reveals additional layers of licorice and soy sauce, resulting in an expressive, distinctive wine."

"The 2021 La Muria is a new single-vineyard wine from the highest-altitude vineyard in Bierzo, at 1,045 meters above sea level, in the village of Viariz. It's from just the top of the vineyard, the highest-altitude part in this case, from 1,000 to 1,047 meters above sea level, on compact slate soils. This is a very old vineyard with a field blend with Menc¡a, Palomino (which they don't use) and a significant amount of Bastardo. The full clusters fermented with indigenous yeasts, were foot trodden and with two months of maceration, and the wine matured in a well-seasoned 500-liter barrel and another regular one. This is super elegant, surprising, very perfumed, floral and nuanced but with complexity and depth, an explosive palate and very fine tannins, with subtle minerality. This is an amazing wine, the most elegant ever produced by Ra£l P,rez? They only produced around 700 liters, some 900 bottles of this elixir. Price is still approximate."

"The 2021 La Muria is a Mencía from Corullón, Bierzo. It opens with black fruit, balsamic, menthol and a touch of licorice. This is expressive and slightly grassy. On the palate, it gains depth over time, with a smooth texture and a long finish. The wines from this site contrast the broader Bierzo style. The higher, cooler terroir and distinct soils bring out Mencía's herbal component."
