Kura Shochu

Kura Shochu

Since releasing their first bottle of sake in 2018, Brooklyn Kura has stood at the forefront of the American sake renaissance. Guided by a deep respect for Japanese brewing traditions and an eye toward innovation, the Brooklyn-based brewery has continued to evolve—and their newest chapter, Kura Shochu, reflects that journey.

Born from a love of shochu and a desire to honor the craftsmanship of Japan’s revered sake brewers and shochu distillers, Kura Shochu also showcases Brooklyn Kura’s commitment to sustainability by upcycling their exceptionally versatile sake kasu. The result is a uniquely American expression of a traditional Japanese spirit—one that reflects the skill of their brewers, the quality of their ingredients, and their dedication to creating things people truly love.

In 2021, Brooklyn Kura deepened its connection to Japan through a long-term partnership with Niigata-based Hakkaisan Brewery, one of the country’s most respected and iconic producers. Together, they share a common mission: to celebrate koji fermentation and spread the joy of sake and shochu to new audiences around the world.
