Great Heart

With the help of Chris and Andrea Mullineux, Great Heart is a project led by their assistant winemaker, Gynore Hendricks. Gynore hails from the Swartland and is a graduate of the prestigious Cape Winemakers Guild Protégé Programme in 2017 (a program to help nurture and promote young wine talent in the region and celebrate diversity in the South African wine industry).  She spent her first year working with Miles Mossop, followed by a year at De Grendel Wines, working with Charles Hopkins. Gynore’s final year was spent with the Mullineux’s, where upon graduating in 2019, she was offered the position of Assistant Winemaker at Mullineux and Leeu Passant. 

Established in 2020, Great Heart Wines is a winery 100% owned and run by the employees of both the Mullineux and Leeu Passant wineries who directly profit from the wine sales and see the shareholders involved in all the stages of the viticulture and winemaking. They are committed to sustainable and ethical farming to preserve the natural environment and well-being of their communities and work with vineyards around Stellenbosch, Swartland and Ceres.
