Bilancia

Lorraine Leheny and Warren Gibson’s wine journeys began in different countries, at different times, and took a few different routes along the way: (Warren – New Zealand, Australia, Hungary, Italy, California, Burgundy, and Lorraine – Australia, New Zealand, Portugal, California). In 1997 they both reached the fork in the road that brought them to Hawke’s Bay and the founding of Bilancia. While they excel at highlighting their region’s most unique sites, their home vineyard, “La Collina”, is where they surpass all expectations. La Collina (the hill) is comprised of 6 hectares on the north/northwest face of Roys Hill. The upper-most slopes and terraces are planted to Syrah whilst the lower gently rising land and gravel flat is planted to Chardonnay and Viognier. Bilancia: balance, harmony and equilibrium; the scales of the zodiac, Libra (their shared sign).
