"The white 2024 Anza Blanco wants to be an austere and sharp white with moderate alcohol. It is clean, aromatic, complex and elegant with notes of fennel and aniseed, white fruit and flowers and an herbal twist with some spice. It is definitely savory, with nothing sweet about it. It was produced with Viura and Malvasía grapes from a 50-year-old plot in Santa Águeda and grapes from individual vines in other vineyards that are not co-fermented with the reds, pressed manually and fermented with the full less and aged without racking until September, meaning it spent 12 months in third-use barrels. It has contained ripeness, 12.5% alcohol and very good freshness, coming through as balanced, fresh and vibrant, with complexity and depth. It's mysterious and complex and has a magnetic attraction that makes you smell it over and over again. It should develop nicely in bottle. Only 621 bottles produced. It was bottled in November 2025."

"Early-harvested and aged in second-year barrels, the 2024 Blanco from El Villar offers soft lemon, lime biscuit and hints of mint and sage. At first expressive and slightly reductive, it then reveals a faint caramel note from élevage. Taut and vibrant on the palate, it shows delicate chalk anchored by bright acidity. Rendered in a fresher-than-average register, this Rioja white gains salinity and tension through restraint, making for a more austere style (12.3%)."

"The first white I ever tasted from Diego Maga¤a is the 2023 Anza Blanco, a clean, precise and fresh blend of Viura with Malvas¡a Riojana. He wanted a sharp and austere white with moderate alcohol, and he got it. This has 12% alcohol and an impressive, nuanced and complex nose with a strong character, savory notes, hints of chicken broth, wild flowers and herbs, not so much on the fruit, but with the smells of the countryside during spring, floral and intoxicating but in a subtle way. It grows on you; it's clean, precise like laser cut, vibrant and mineral, very tasty. It is focused and precise, with a long, tasty, almost salty finish and a dry and chalky feeling to it. Beautiful! 1,640 numbered bottles produced. It was bottled in November 2024."
