"The 2020 Pinot Noir Ried Holzspur was fermented with a third of whole bunches and aged for 14 months in half new and half third- and fourth-fill barriques. Slight smoke and crushed forest berries with an overtone of dark elderberry shimmer in both red and black fruit. Juiciness and pristine red, ripe cherry are immediate on the palate, smooth and fresh. All notes are corralled by fine, still slightly crunchy tannins that contain the vivid fruit and point deeper into the soil. The freshness and brightness have a lovely resonance. (Bone-dry)"

"The 2019 Ried Holzspur Pinot Noir is based on seven different clones and massal selections of which the oldest vines are from 1975. Fermented with 30% whole clusters and aged in 30% new barriques, the 2019 offers a clear, fresh and slightly oaky bouquet of red berries and cherries. Elegant and fresh on the palate, this is an intense, dense and silky textured Holzspur with remarkable salinity and tension. It is still young and untamed but very promising. 13.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted chez Velich in Apetlon in July 2022."
