Leopold Bros Maraschino Liqueur

• Maraschino cherry liqueur produced by Leopold Bros in Denver, Colorado
• Produced using Croation Marasca cherries
• Whole cherries are open-air fermented without added yeast or sugar
• Distilled in a hybrid copper pot still
• The eau-de-vie is then blended with a Montmorency cherry eau-de-vie that has been redistilled with coriander
• Sweetened using Colorado honey
• Kirschwasser aromas with undertones of cherry cola and a hint of tropical fruit greet the nose, preceding a bright, lean palate of juicy Marasca cherry with notes of warm pastry crust and a hint of stone fruit
• Some natural oxidation will occur; use within 4 months of opening or 8 months if refrigerated
• 30% ABV

Whole Marasca cherries, pit and all, are naturally fermented and distilled as an eau-de-vie to provide the base of this classic cocktailing liqueur. The eau-de-vie is then blended with a separate spirit made by distilling pitted Montmorency cherries from Traverse City, Michigan, as an eau-de-vie which is then redistilled with coriander. Demonstrating the artisanal approach the distillery takes to its library of liqueurs, Leopold Bros Maraschino Cherry Liqueur is a far cry from the polarizing “cherry” liqueurs found on too many back bars and bar carts.
