"Opening to a light ruby appearance with dried raspberry, cassis and spicy white pepper, the David & Nadia 2023 Swartland Grenache Noir (with 12,539 bottles created) has an exceedingly fine and elegant style with polished tannins. The wine is lean in consistency but beautifully bright and vertical. With time, it shows floral nuances, ferrous earth and rusted tin can. This is one of the best Grenache Noirs from South Africa."

"Very fragrant, showing notes of wild strawberries, raspberries, pink peppercorns, oranges and star anise. It,s medium-bodied, bright and pure, with plenty of energy and very fine tannins. Evolves to a savory, spicy and elegant finish. Drink or hold."

"The 2023 Grenache Noir, which was picked before 100mm of rain fell, has an expressive bouquet with Morello cherry, wild strawberry and wilted rose petal scents that open beautifully in the glass. The palate is well balanced with vivacious cranberry and pomegranate fruit, nicely detailed tannins and a poised, persistent finish. Very sophisticated."

"Pale raspberry colour. Sweet start, much lighter than the first Grenache from David I tasted! Moving with the times µ? More like a Gredos wine. Should find favour. (JR)"

"The David & Nadia 2024 Swartland Grenache Noir reflects a focused commitment to Grenache, inspired by high-altitude expressions such as Gredos in Spain with granitic soils. Sourced primarily from granite mountain vineyards, the wine sees about one month on skins with 50% whole-bunch fruit, gentle foot treading and gravity handling with infusions rather than pump-overs. Partial carbonic character adds lift, while aging occurs in concrete and older 500-liter barrels. Violet and lavender aromatics rise above a fresh and lively core, with precision and fine focus defining the palate."

"A gentle, mellow Grenache in a contemporary mould (note the alcohol), this is pale, pretty and utterly charming, with lots of raspberry, strawberry and cherry fruit, complemented by redcurrant jelly, pomegranate juice and a twist of orange zest and earthy spice. Just so very moreish, this is a convincing example of how well Grenache suits the Swartland, and would likely find favour with both new-wave Rhône and southern hemisphere Pinot Noir fans. Fruit from four different Swartland vineyards was given a long, gentle extraction and fermented with 60% whole bunches, then matured in concrete and old 500-litre barrels. Serve lightly chilled to experience it at its best."

"Beginning with a floral and red-fruited nose, the 2022 Grenache Noir offers notes of raspberry and dusty plum with a delightful floral lift from whole cluster. Medium-bodied, the palate is succulent and fresh, offering a lingering tannic edge before a soft herbal flavor creeps into the long, red-fruited finish. There,s a touch of reduction on the aftertaste. Enjoy with food."

"The 2022 Grenache Noir comes from five parcels on granitic soils, made using 60% whole bunches between 3 and 5 weeks on the skin, matured in concrete vats and 500-liter used oak barrels. It has a lively bouquet with red cherries, cranberry, rosemary and thyme, and touches of earthenware. The medium-bodied palate has sappy red fruit, gentle grip and a keen line of acidity with sour cherry, crushed strawberry and earthy notes towards the finish. Drink over the next decade."

"Very pale garnet. Sweet and pure on the nose. Light-bodied and fruity with very marked acidity at the moment and quite a lot of fine tannin giving the wine a savoury finish. Sappy and more complex and ambitious than many Grenaches, though like their other 2022s it needs more time in bottle.ÿ"

"Red-fruited and mineral-driven, the 2021 Grenache Noir opens to fresh, red-spiced and floral essences in the glass. Medium-bodied, the wine is focused and food-friendly as it opens to a fleshy, just-ripe essence that will continue to deliver pleasure for years to come. The wine concludes with a brilliant mineral-laced finish."
