Botanical Gin, 'Hat Trick'

Botanical Gin Hat Trick High Wire Distilling STRAPPED
  • Small batch dry gin produced by High Wire Distilling Co. in Charleston, South Carolina
  • Botanicals include juniper, fresh orange and lemon peels, coriander, cardamom, lavender, angelica root, anise root, licorice root, and lemongrass
  • Neutral grain base spirit is distilled from corn
  • Water is sourced from the Edisto River Basin (filtered for chloramines for fermentation and distillation; deionized for proofing)
  • Whole juniper berries are crushed and macerated via mesh bag in neutral grain spirit for 24–48 hours, and the resulting infusion is re-distilled; the remaining botanicals together undergo the same maceration process and redistillation. The two distillates are then blended in a ratio of 75% juniper base to 25% botanical base.
  • Rested and proofed prior to bottling
  • Packed with classic notes of juniper, lavender, bright citrus, and black licorice on the nose, the palate, which is ample and satisfying, reinforces these sensations, accented with lemongrass, cardamom, and a tingling sensation of proof that’s pleasantly light on its feet.
  • Non-chill filtered; 44% ABV

Popularized in the “Charleston G&T” craze of the early ‘teens, High Wire Hat Trick Gin, with its classically firm juniper backbone—combined with heavy citrus, floral, and licorice accents—was the perfect pairing for locally produced tonic syrup and fresh soda, thus raising the bar for cocktail deliciousness in the Palmetto State. A gin-lover’s gin—and a bartender favorite (a near perfect Venn-diagram overlap, as it turns out), this gin is ready for any and all cocktailing applications, especially when a classic, four-square London Dry is called for.
