An exciting new venture from the makers of Rhys Vineyards, Æris Wines focuses on Italian varieties such as Nebbiolo, Barbera, Nerello Mascarello, and notably the first planting of Carricante in the United States.

Backstory Wines were brought to market to fill a niche as affordable California wines, competitively priced and varietally correct. Backstory Chardonnay, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon can be go-to, high volume, entry level wines.

The winery is first and foremost a mission-driven operation dedicated to preserving and rehabilitating old vineyards around California. These vineyards, planted by California’s viticultural pioneers in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, are living pieces of history.
