The Barrell Private Release Series allows the team at Barrell to exercise their blending expertise on a single-barrel-scale entirely by hand and by palate. Every ounce of every component changes the overall character of these blends, as does the barrel in which each one is finished. Brooklyn’s St. Agrestis provides the finishing cask for DJA1—ex-bourbon barrels which previously held their amaro, a bitter digestive with pronounced notes of clove, allspice, sarsaparilla, and peppermint.

Tasting Notes

Barrell DJA1 St. Agrestis Amaro Cask Whiskey is a limited-release whiskey blended and bottled by Barrell Craft Spirits in Louisville, KY. The Barrell Private Release Series allows the team at Barrell to exercise their blending expertise—entirely by hand and by palate—on a similar scale to a single barrel. Every ounce of every component changes the overall character of these blends, as does the barrel in which each one is finished.

14-year-old Indiana whiskey provides a base to which 18-year Kentucky whiskey, as well as younger bourbon and rye, are added. Brooklyn’s St. Agrestis provides the finishing cask for DJA1—ex-bourbon barrels which previously held St. Agrestis amaro, a Brooklyn-made bittersweet digestif with pronounced notes of clove, allspice, sarsaparilla, and peppermint. Non-chill filtered; bottled at a cask strength of 62.08% ABV.
