Loewen Thörnicher Ritsch Riesling Grosses Gewächs

Loewen Thörnicher Ritsch Riesling Grosses Gewächs

The Ritsch offers ideal conditions for Grosses Gewächs. The concentration of ripeness, mineral aromas and playful elegance is extraordinary. It is important to me, that the wine keeps the elegant character of the Mosel riesling despite of the enormous concentration of aromas.  Ritsch is harvested at the very end of the vintage in order to ensure an ideal ripeness of the grapes

Ferments are completely natural without addition of enzymes or nutrition –the grapes are bloc picked, and then head directly to Fuder barrels (around 1000L) which average 25 years.

Review:
You can almost smell the bitterness of the lemons here, such is the intensity of the citrus and green-fruit pith. Then come overtures of green paprika, five spice and Granny Smith apples. The medium-to full-bodied palate delivers a surround-sound impression of acidity that’s integrated into the edgy oiliness. Drink now or hold.
